Abstract

The Bacopamonnieri is a selected plant for completion of this experiment which belongs to Scrophulariaceae family. It has various types of metabolic contents that extracted with different solvents where bacoside-A and quercetin were extracted from plant and bacoside-A quantified with HPLC method. The bacoside A peak height found on 1.876 with 0.938cm2 area while sample’s bacoside-A peak height reported on 1.847. In B. monnieri extract, three peaks observed on chromatograph where concentration of peak A is 29.87%, peak B 33.98% and peak C 36.13%. The quercetin was separated to extract with thin layer chromatography method. Standard quercetin was run with extract of B. monnieri and found that the mobile phase travelled upto 6cm while quercetin travelled 3cm above baseline. The spot of quercetin was observed at long UV, short UV and normal light where the Rf value was 0.6. The extract spots Rf values measured at long UV i.e. 0.08, 0.25, 0.33, 0.63, 0.75, 0.83, short UV: 0.16, 0.41, 0.43, 0.5, 0.58, 0.63, 0.66 and normal light: 0.38, 0.56, 0.61, 0.66.
