Abstract

The contactless operation is essential for many applications as faced in the current pandemic situation when it is dangerous to handle processes through contact. An RFID technology that is already existing should be brought to a higher dimension to utilize it to the best. It is the wireless non-contact usage of radio frequency waves to convey information for a short distance. RFID tags enable users to automatically and uniquely identify and track goods and assets. It advances auto-ID technology by allowing tags to be read without line of sight and read range ranging from a few centimeters to more than 20 meters. Not only is technology improving year after year, but the cost of establishing and utilizing an RFID  system  is decreasing, making it more cost-effective and efficient. This article discusses what constitutes an RFID system, its benefits, drawbacks, uses, and general industry forecast in the next generations.
