This start from preprocessing images which is enhance contrast and denoise image to show the better method to be use in deep learning models. Then we also changing ReLU layer into ClippedReLU layer which works better in MobileNet-V2 to improve the better performance on ShuffleNet. The dataset used in this research is from Plant Village Dataset in Kaggle database. The result showed that contrast enhance could improve the performance of deep learning models compared to denoise and original images. Also, the ShuffleNet + ClippedReLU layer improve some of training parameters including time but ni the accuracy. This changing activation layer on ShuffleNet needs more exploration to improve the accuracy.
Maulana*, Rizka Ramadhana#, Fudong Ge* Copyright (c) 2023 https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/576 Tue, 26 Sep 2023 00:00:00 +0000 EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF INDIAN-ALMOND ORIGINATED SURFACTANT IN ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY APPLICATIONS https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/581
Chemical injection to enhance oil recovery is proven to increase oil recovery, but the use of chemicals can be environmentally damaging, so this research is very important as an effort to use natural chemicals as surfactants derived from Indian Almonds to reduce the environmental hazards caused. Surfactants from this natural material will be tested with the stages of aqueous stability, phase behavior, viscosity, density, interfacial tension, and core flooding. The results showed that the surfactant from Indian Almonds can be completely soluble with brine, forming a bottom-phase emulsion. The optimum interfacial tension value was obtained at 7.5% concentration of 6.5 mN/m; at this concentration, the critical micelle concentration was reached. Subsequently, the application of the core flooding test resulted in a significant increase in oil recovery, reaching 74.36% for artificial cores with a mesh size of 50 and 62.5% for artificial cores with a mesh size of 40. This study shows the surfactants from Indian Almonds has technical capabilities as the EOR method for the alternative chemical injection.
Harry Budiharjo Sulistyarso*, Joko Pamungkas, and Yulius Deddy Hermawan Copyright (c) 2023 https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/581 Tue, 10 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0000 IMPLEMENTATION OF ADAPTIVE-PID CONTROL IN A 10 L STIRRED TANK HEATER https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/582
When operating a thermal reactor, the temperature of the reactor must be closely regulated to preserve its product specifications. Consequently, a control strategy needs to be developed. In order to address the problem of instability in reactor operation, a 10-liter stirred tank heater (STH) will be employed in the study's laboratory. To maintain a steady volume, the tank was made to overflow. A process reaction curve was employed for fine-tuning PID parameters. The XCOS software was chosen to examine the process control models. The tuning experiment produced controller gain Kc = 215 [kJ/(minute.K)], the integral time constant I = 0.3 minute, and the derivative time constant D = 0.075 minute. In this work, the two temperature control models of the conventional PID and the novel adaptive PID in a 10-liter stirred tank heater were proposed. The two control models with their tuning parameters provided quick and stable responses, as demonstrated in the dynamic simulation study. The integral of the absolute value of the error (IAE) at the tank outlet temperature for conventional control and adaptive control is 1.76 and 0.55 oC, respectively. The adaptive PID controller performed admirably and responded better than conventional PID, according to the closed-loop dynamic simulation.
Yulius Deddy Hermawan *, Yusmardhany Yusuf, Eka Rizqina Andari, Ariba Aulia Rahma, Maverick Na’im Tyas Kurniarto, Vitri Simanullang, Ahmad Aulia Rahman, Nurcholis Majid, Harry Budiharjo Sulistyarso Copyright (c) 2023 https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/582 Tue, 10 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0000 UTILIZING THE POTENTIAL RIG-TO-REEF AS A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION FOR MARINE WASTE MANAGEMENT: CASE STUDY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF PLATFORM “MAN” https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/583
Marine waste pollution has emerged as a pressing global issue, necessitating the exploration of innovative solutions for sustainable marine waste management. Offshore North West Java, with its many marine conservation areas and biodiversity, faces the risk of damage to these conservation areas from oil platforms that have been abandoned for too long. The research aims to assess the effectiveness and environmental implication of Rig-to-Reef (R2R) in addressing marine waste management challenges, specifically in the offshore North West Java region. R2R is a promising method that utilizes decommissioned offshore oil and gas platforms as artificial reefs, simultaneously providing new habitats for marine organisms and mitigating marine waste. A mixed-methods approach is adopted with literature study and incorporating quantitative field data analysis. The case study centers on decommissioning of Platform “MAN”. Data is collected through examination before the implementation of R2R initiatives. This study examines the transformations that occur on the platform structures after their conversion into artificial reefs that impact the environment including the changes in biodiversity, species composition, and biomass, alongside the water quality parameters. Potential ecological benefits, such as increased fish populations, enhanced coral cover, and the establishment of new marine habitats, are assessed to gauge the positive outcomes of R2R initiatives in Offshore North West Java. Furthermore, R2R offers a cost advantage of USD 706,865 or approximately 30.4% more economical than conventional decommissioning. This makes R2R an appealing option for decommissioning offshore platforms, providing potential cost savings while still promoting marine biodiversity through the conversion of platform parts into artificial reefs. In conclusion, the potential outcomes are associated with R2R implementation, including factors such as marine waste reduction, efficiency on decommissioning expenses, and local economic growth. As the oil and gas industry embraces more environmentally friendly practices, Rig-to-Reef presents itself as a viable solution to balance ecological conservation and industrial operations. The findings from this study aim to provide valuable insights of Platform “MAN” into the feasibility, efficiency, and sustainability of R2R as a solution for marine waste management in the Offshore North West Java.
Dedy Kristanto*, Nanda Berkah Pratama*, Azhar Faari Fatahillah, Michael Revindra Adiperdan, Luky Agung Yusgiantoro Copyright (c) 2023 https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/583 Tue, 10 Oct 2023 00:00:00 +0000 LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF RESIDUE DUE TO HIGH SALINITY OF PRODUCE WATER BASED FRACTURING FLUID https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/588
The residue created by water-based fracturing fluids is still a shortcoming in their application. This is related to formation damage induced by hydraulic fracturing. The use of water in the manufacturing of water-based fracturing fluids is one of the sources of the ensuing residue level. Production water has been extensively researched as a source of water for the production of fracturing fluids. Previous research has found that the presence of monovalent and divalent ions influences the viscosity of the fracturing fluid. Furthermore, dissolve ions in the produce water also increase the water salinity value. Based on these phenomena, more research is needed to determine the effect of dissolved ions and water salinity on viscosity and residue of produce water based fracturing fluid. An examination of the influence of produce water salinity on the residue was carried out in the laboratory using a centrifuge method. Residue testing was carried out after testing the viscosity and breaktime in a water bath at 70 0C. This study found that increasing the dissolved ion content in production water, both monovalent and divalent, reduces viscosity, but the resultant residue is still larger than when using tap water at the same thickener, crosslink, and breaker concentrations.
Dedy Kristanto*, Dewi Asmorowati*, Hariyadia, Allen Haryanto Lukmana, Susanti Rina Copyright (c) 2023 https://hdlgdxxb.info/index.php/JE_CUST/article/view/588 Tue, 07 Nov 2023 00:00:00 +0000
